The Whole Body Box
We understand that going organic is a day by day process. To help get you started, we want to share with you cool new food and body products we’ve discovered along the way that can help get you on the path to clean living.
This month, our body products are focused on the 3 items most of us use every day and are therefore the most toxic. If skin absorbs a minimum of 60% (and some studies suggest that areas like the underarms absorb almost 100%!) of what we put on it, we think these 3 products are a great place to start to detox your skin and your body – lotion, deodorant and lip balm.
This month’s food products are organically grown, locally sourced, and have simple ingredients that help aid digestion, boost energy and are just great to snack on!
We hope you enjoy!
Taspen’s Organics Body Cream
Located in the beautiful mountains of Conifer, CO, Taspen’s was started when the owner, Heather Baruch had tried everything possible to get rid of ear congestion that affected her hearing. After reading an article about an Herbalist, Heather made an appointment to see this person and her life changed forever. After three years of suffering with this condition, her Herbalist healed her through a change in her diet and supplements. Heather was so impacted by this that she decided to complete a Master Herbalist Certification course. As she became more aware of the toxic ingredients in most products she began looking closer at the labels of products claiming to be organic and “all-natural” and was appalled. This led to her making her own products for herself and her family and friends. Urged to turn it into a business, Heather launched Taspen’s Organics.
My husband discovered them in the Denver Airport and I cannot tell you how thankful I am. I love everything that I’ve tried and will be adding more of their products to the website. For this month’s box, I chose the body cream because lotion/body cream is one of the most toxic things we put on our bodies especially considering that our skin absorbs at least 60% of what we put on it. And if you’re like me, you put it on at least twice a day. With Taspen’s Moisturizing Body Cream you can feel confident that it is truly an all-natural, organic cream.
Moisturizing Body Cream easily absorbs into the skin helping condition, soften and smooth while preventing and soothing dryness. Skin quenching, creamy and luxurious; a little bit goes a long way. It doesn’t only coat the surface of your skin, but penetrates the epidermis to moisturize the dermal layer of your skin as well.
Ingredients: Love, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Raw Shea Butter, Organic Aloe Vera Gel, Shungite Water, Silver Solution, Pure Beeswax and Pure Certified Organic Essential Oils.
Noyah Lip Balm
“Why do so many balms contain so many ingredients, and ones we can’t pronounce?” This was the question that launched Noyah. After all, shouldn’t something that touches your lips be made with the very ingredients you would want to put in your mouth?
I’ve been using Noyah for several years and love its luxurious feel and how well it keeps my lips hydrated,. It was also the only lip balm my mom could use and find any relief from her dry, cracked lips as she underwent chemo and radiation.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Organic Extra Virgin Olea Europaea (Olive) oil, Organic Stevia Rebaudiana
This one should have been a no brainer, especially after my mom’s diagnosis of breast cancer. But I was terrified to make the switch to an all-natural deodorant. I was the poster girl for Secret Clinical Strength. Then, there was the fact that it was mid-July in Atlanta. But, I decided to jump in and try it one day, making sure to stash in my purse for the inevitable moment when I knew it was failing. The good news though is that I never had to pull it out of my purse. I went a whole day without smelling stinky or getting too sweaty. I was blown away. Native is the first deodorant we’d like to offer you but there are brands out there that we will be featuring on our website in the near future.
Native is made here in the USA. It’s paraben- and aluminum-free. Why does that matter? Parabens mimic estrogen and disrupt hormonal balance while aluminum is being linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s.

In 2012, Verdant Kitchens planted their first crop of organic ginger, galangal and turmeric on a 500-acre farm outside of Savannah. Eating ginger is a great natural way to relieve nausea and vomiting and aid in digestion. Turmeric can help reduce inflammation and in some studies it shows promise for helping to prevent stomach, colon and skin cancers.
Picked early in the season while the ginger rhizomes are mild and soft, Bare Ginger delivers a warm, tropical sensation. Bare Ginger combines early season texture with the aromatic, peppery flavors of Galangal (Thai Ginger) in this favorite treat.
